The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) recently adopted a position paper expressing no preference for the type of Design-Build entity that may contract with an owner.Different types of Design-Build entities include the following:
- Contractor with a designer (architect/engineer) as a subconsultant
- Designer with a contractor as a subcontractor
- Joint venture between a contractor and designer
- Entity with in-house design and construction capabilities
